Open Source Music Video to Air on FUSE TV with Professionally Shot RED Footage
Orlando, FL (PRWEB) July 2, 2008 -- Introducing Cutscape.com, the world's first open source music video competition. Cutscape.com is a completely open source editing competition designed to encourage people to take professionally shot, better-than-film-grade footage and edit it in their own way, creating their own version of the music video. Entrants to the competition register at http://cutscape.com.
The wining entry will receive a prize package including a brand new 46 " Flatscreen HDTV from Sony, their version aired nationally on the FUSE network, their name in the credits, and mentioned by the host of the tv show in which the music video will air. Every contestant gets to keep the source footage under a creative commons license; therefore, even if they don't win, they can use the footage to develop their editing skills or even use it on their demo reel.
Cutscape provides ALL of the raw, 35 mm quality, professionally shot footage (shot on the RED ONE digital cinema camera) and any assets (storyboards, music track, script). Contestants provide the editorial.
Cutscape.com will transfer over 200 gigs worth of professionally shot footage of the music video to a hard drive. At a set date after principle photography, all hard drives are sent to the contestants. They have fifteen days to complete their cut including all color correction, digital effecting, audio sweetening, and anything needed for a completed music video.
At the end of the fifteen days, all contestants will upload their cut to the cutscape.com website for viewing where the community can view them and judging can take place. The judging panel consists of three judges with equal voting power: the director, the band, and the community of contestants themselves acting as the third judge.
The RED ONE Digital Cinema camera is the latest digital cinema camera to cause a buzz in the filmmaking community. It shoots quicktime reference files as well as imagery in 2K and 4K, better resolution than 35mm film. Several Hollywood Directors are currently shooting with the RED camera including Oscar winning directors Steven Soderbergh and Peter Jackson. The cutscape.com competition is a perfect opportunity for professional editors, students or music video fans to get their hands on footage from the latest in filmmaking technology, RED ONE digital cinema.
